We designed our first arena in partnership with our sponsor, Labman Automation in 2020. This arena was designed to hold the meanest featherweight bots in the world, for newcomers, students and robot fighting legends alike to battle for the ultimate championship title at FightFest.

The arena is designed to be built using the tools and machinery in house at Labman Automation, utilising a lasercutter, router and bending press. It is a modular design with the capability of being erected in 3 different sizes, with the largest being 17ft x 17ft! This combat zone is compromised of 5mm thick wear plate steel barriers and floor panels anti-shock mounted to a mild steel cage structure to dissipate the most devistating of hits. The cage is itself is surrounded with double layered 6mm and 12mm polycarbonate walls, making this robot arena not only bulletproof, but near bombproof! The arena has been designed with containing anything and everything in mind, whilst the Out-Of-Bounds areas and the Sidewall Shredder balances the competitive field between weapon types, keeping fights enticing and exciting whilst encouraging variety in the competitors!

The combination of our arena design and Labman Automation's amazing employees and organisers have made FightFest the biggest and most intense  featherweight competition in Europe!

In 2022, following the success of the FightFest arena and events, we were asked to design a hobbyweight class arena for The University Of Chichester and Team Ablaze for their Robot Rebellion events. Previously Robot Rebellion have been knowing for their top tier beetleweight events at the Rapture Gaming Festival, but their popularity incentivising the University to invest in a permanent arena set up. To meet this demand and popularity, the plan for a new arena was set in motion, much larger and capable of safely containing the beetleweight machines, as well as catering for the ever growing hobbyweight class.

The parts for this battle arena were entirely manufactured by our team in North Yorkshire, from material supply to cutting and machining! It is much like the FightFest arena we had designed previously, having a 5mm steel lasercut and welded modular structure. The barriers and floor panels are 4mm thick wear plate steel, once again anti-shock mounted dissipate and prevent any potential damage from the fighting machines. Whilst the cage is itself is surrounded with double layered 6mm and 10mm polycarbonate walls to keep the crowd out and the robots in! In addition to the battle cage itself, there are two out of bounds areas, one being a simple 45 degree corner barrier which doubles as a safe area for competitors to arm up their machines, where-as the other is a pneumatic powered raising and lowering pit with a scissor-lift style linkage. This arena will debut in the 2nd half of 2024!
